Rick Stroobosscher

Rick sets the strategic direction for the company, investigates new technology, and guides the talented team he has assembled.

Prior to founding Karos, Rick served as the CTO of Medicalis Corporation between 2002 and 2004 in Waterloo, Ontario, where he led engineering and architected integration and clinical decision support solutions for large healthcare enterprises. From 1993 to 2002 Rick worked at Mitra Imaging in Waterloo. As CTO of Medicalis and Mitra, Rick developed innovative and standards-based technologies to enhance the integration of disparate clinical systems and the communication of medical data across the healthcare enterprise. Rick was one of the primary industry architects developing solutions for archiving and distribution of image data, as well as integration of image and information systems. Rick also launched and managed Mitra’s European headquarters.

Rick is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he earned his Master of Mathematics degree in Computer Science. Prior to joining Mitra, Rick taught at the University of Waterloo and was a member of the Programming Languages Group as well as a research assistant in the Computer Graphics Lab.

Michel Pawlicz

Michel drives operations, marketing and business development for Karos Health.

In the 15 years prior to joining Karos Health, Michel held several senior management positions at Agfa Healthcare and Mitra Imaging, including Marketing Director of the Connectivity Business Line and General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). During his career in the healthcare IT industry, Michel has served with large industry players, such as Philips Medical Systems and Atos-Origin and has collaborated with numerous hospitals both in North America and in Europe. In his Product Development, Project Management, Sales and Marketing roles, Michel has developed a deep understanding of American, Canadian and International healthcare markets. His participation in various industry standards committees along with his integrity, precision, and reliability have also allowed him to build lasting relationships with numerous Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) clients.

Michel is a Computer Science graduate from Polytechnic University Heerlen in the Netherlands. He is also a graduate from the Executive Development Program at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
