Nationally Ranked Hospital Deploys Rialto and Becomes Karos Innovation Center


Advancing Radiology Ordering and Results Distribution

Karos Health (www.karoshealth.com), announced today it has signed an agreement with Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Radiology to deploy Rialto, its platform for clinical information exchange and storage. Under the agreement, Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Radiology will also become a Karos Innovation Center, providing a platform for both partners to collaborate on industry leading innovations in healthcare IT and healthcare delivery.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is the largest hospital of the Longwood Medical and Academic Area, situated in Boston, MA, and the second largest teaching affiliate of Harvard University.

The hospital will deploy Karos’ Rialto exchange network to improve electronic ordering and results distribution of diagnostic imaging tests between the healthcare provider’s 17 affiliated hospitals and the NightWatch off-hours radiology reading service provided by the hospital’s Department of Radiology for its client hospitals. Rialto will be deployed at each affiliated hospital and integrate with the existing RIS and PACS allowing for the secure and seamless exchange of order information to NightWatch. At Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Rialto will integrate with the existing radiology systems and radiology reporting workflow. The results of the radiology reading process will be seamlessly communicated back to the affiliated hospital.

  • Implements the IHE Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS.b) and IHE Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing for Imaging (XDS-I.b) Integration Profiles and includes Document Registry, Document Repository, Document Source, Imaging Document Source, Document Consumer, Imaging Document Consumer and Patient Identifier Cross-Reference Manager (PIXV2/PIXV3) actors.
